Saint Bernard Figurine
Overview
-
With its large head, droopy ears, friendly manner and a barrel hanging from its neck, there’s no doubt that this is a St Bernard. This large mountain dog gets its name from the Hospice of Grand-Saint-Bernard in the Swiss Alps, where it was used by the monks as a guard dog and a mountain rescue dog. The little barrel of rum it carried around the neck was intended to revive hypothermia victims. The St Bernard is white and red with dark patches under its head and ears. It can be short or long haired depending on the variety. This is a rather stubborn but gentle dog and considered as the perfect babysitter.
