Native to Switzerland, the Valais blacknosed sheep is characterized by a dark pigmentation, particularly on the nose and around the eyes, which contrasts with the white color of its wool. Adapted to the harsh conditions of mountainous regions, its traditional breeding is often linked to transhumance, where flocks are moved between summer and winter pastures. This species is the subject of conservation programs aimed at preserving the breed and its genetic heritage.
