The alligator is distinguished from the crocodile by its wider muzzle but also by its color. The latter varies according to the water in which the animal evolves: green for the waters loaded with algae, black for the waters loaded with tannic acid. At the top of its 360 kg, the alligator has a relatively slow body which does not however prevent it from making short bursts of speed, especially when it comes to catching prey.
